Runescape: Prayer Tutor Method for Raising Prayer Level
Burying bones for the raising of the prayer level can be a very time consuming task. It requires a player to devote themselves to gathering bones and burying them. Buying the bones is an option and may save a lot of time in prayer training, but it is a very expensive option. Due to the difficulty in obtaining the bones, bones usually get sold for high prices on the street as well as on the grand exchange. And although there are several spots around Runescape where a player can easily pick up normal bones without the need to fight monsters or NPC characters, there are no efficient sources of big bones available which can be obtained without the need to kill a monster. Before the well known wilderness update, the largest and most efficient source of big bones was located in the bone yard within the wilderness. However, since it's removal, there are no longer efficient places in runescape where big bones can easily be collected. If a player is willing to fight to obtain big bones, Edgeville dungeon is a good spot to collect big bones by killing the hill giants there. But there is one method available to raise a player's prayer level without the need to fight. Completing jobs is often an effective way to increase a player's prayer level due to the experience magic lamps players receive after completing 15 jobs for the prayer tutor or for any other job giving NPC in Lumbridge or Draynor. The magic lamp given by the prayer tutor though, simply gives 25 experience points per level of the selected skill. Because of the mechanics of the magic lamp, working for the prayer tutor is beneficial to players who have a prayer level of 35 or higher.
Using the Method
To begin using this method of increasing your prayer level, head to the lumbridge church which is opposite the road from the lumbridge castle. Once there, simply talk to the Prayer tutor about receiving a job for her to assign you one. There are a few types of jobs which she will give you, but every single one is within your level so you have the possibility of completing all the jobs. The jobs she assigns you usually involve the collecting of the following items:
Logs
Oak Logs
Willow Logs
Pizzas
Apple pies
Cakes
Cooked chickens
Crayfishes
Cowhides
Balls of Wool
Unstrung Symbols
Leather boots
Leather gloves
There is a job she commonly assigns you which gives a bit of prayer experience. Every now and then, she will ask you to collect several bones to bury in the Church's grave yard. This allows you to collect a bit of prayer experience while preforming jobs for her.
Although the number of items she requires from you varies from job to job, she will never require more than 26 of a certain item. This allows you to carry two items in your bag while making only one item collection trip. You can use these two free slots to hold the coins you get from completing the jobs and to also hold a task list so you can remember your job if you forget about it.
An effective variation to this method, which requires a bit of starting money, is to buy the items she asks for in large amounts (using the Grand Exchange) and then to bank these items. This allows players to easily run to the lumbridge bank after accepting a task, and then running back with all the items in their bag. Using this variation, a player could take about 5 minuites to complete all 6 jobs that you can do every hour. Although this variation requires a lot of money, keep in mind that for all items you bring to her, you will recieve the items lowest cost in the grand exchange in return. Because of this, you can usually collect the majority of all the coins you invest in buying items back. It is even possible to make a profit if there is a significant change in the item's market price.
Although gaining experience by working for the prayer tutor is easier to do, it is only beneficial to players for a higher prayer level. A player with level 45 prayer can easily collect 1125 prayer experience for a few minuites of work. Players with a wood cutting level of 60 or higher can even take advantage of the yew tree in the church's grave yard while waiting for their job quota to reset, therby making an even larger profit by collecting yew logs. However, it is not necessary to buy all the items required for the prayer tutor's jobs. Nearby the church are normal trees, willow trees, and oak trees. Bones can be collected easily by killing the many goblins located across the river. And if you are faced with an item which is too difficult to aquire, remember that you can always switch to an easier item just by asking, or ask for another job if that item is too difficult to aquire as well. Be aware though that you are only capable of doing 6 jobs for every hour you spend online.
